Dear Oriental Rug... Please Come Back!

There I said it! I miss the beautiful unique Oriental rugs that use to be a staple, dare I say even the launching pad to the design of the whole room!  Whether they be vintage, antique or even reproductions they each have a unique beauty and not all of them looked like they belong at Grand-mama's.  Don't get me wrong I love some of the trendy rugs like seagrass, moroccan and even chevron rugs, but I think I am growing a bit of tired of them... and yes I have a few of the ones that I mentioned in my own home too.  I do also have a few old orientals as well and I can honestly say I still love those pieces under foot.  I have found some images of Oriental rugs at Pinterest that prove they can work in the most current and hip spaces. I also went to my favorite rug site- STARK to find some gorgeous examples of timeless Orientals that are mixes of reproductions and vintage. I also picked mostly neutrals as to show how they can look simple and current as well.  However, one can find some fantastic rugs on Ebay and even Etsy! So, do you miss the Old Oriental?
Check out Stark and find your self missing Orientals too!

  6. I have oriental rugs everywhere - they aren't going anywhere and I too love them underfoot. Mine are heavier than some of your inspiration pictures - I love the thinner, threadbare one's you have shown with the more muted colors. I do think a rug (any rug) is a great place to start to design the room itself. Love your inspiration photos.

  9. I love layering rugs over sea grass. Orientals are a classic. Once you have one, you know the difference. When you get tired of it, roll it up and bring it out later. I'm looking for a vintage rug myself!

  13. It is important to consider oriental rugs. Designing the house with oriental rugs uplift the beauty of the place. It is important that you know how to design the place with the rug you choose.

  14. Why don’t you get them back? What’s not to miss with those oriental rugs? They could make a simple home look stylish and elegant. I could see why you prefer the simple and neutral; they’re safer and could be easier to match contemporary ones.
