Thanksgiving Hunt!

It's a tradition by us for the Hunt clubs to head out every Thanksgiving for the Holiday Fox Hunt. We have horses everywhere in my part of New Jersey and of course we are no exception with our own horse Kieran.  My daughter has participated in a few hunts but thank goodness no Fox was ever  harmed in the process.  Although I don't wish any animal to be hunted, there is something nostalgic and historic about the tradition. It always reminds me of Autumn and Holiday time, especially when you drive through Far Hills and see the packs of hounds and horses in pursuit of a prize. You feel like you have been transported back in time.  A home can definitely be influenced at Thanksgiving by the English style and qualities that are "The Hunt".  Here are some of my favorite finds from Pinterest. I wish everyone has a safe pre-Thanksgiving  prep day as I see the snow coming down from my window. Cheers!

Finally, this image reminds of my daughter and the age that she started riding! It truly brings to mind the meaning of  "Thanks" to have my wonderful children who are now adults and approaching adulthood  all healthy, happy  and safe!

  2. Gorgeous, Karolyn. I agree, I hate the thought of a fox being harmed, but have horses in my blood and photos of the red jackets, boots and hats always make me think of my grandparents and their beautiful farm. Thanks for reminding me of them this morning.

I hope that you and your family have a beautiful Thanksgiving. I'm thankful that we got to meet this year! XOXO

  8. Happy Thanksgiving, Karolyn!!!! What a fabulous tradition…the Hunt! I have always admired the attire and the nostalgia associated with such an old tradition. I would love to see or experience one some day! Love all these images…and though I may not be on a hunt….I have Spode Woodland and antlers everywhere, so it's a bit of a nod!

  10. happy thanksgiving! we have no comparable tradition in our neck of the woods. wait. oh yes, we do. it's called the great hunt for the bigger pair of pants after the holiday dinner. not as classy as chasing a fox but challenging nonetheless! have a blast.
