Upstairs -Downstairs Just Give Me Those Paint Colors!

Well, I watched a marathon of Masterpiece Theater's Upstairs/Downstairs the 2010 series. I was glued to the screen from beginning to the end. I just love 1930's style and glamour especially the interior style of 165 Eaton Place!  The talented Eve Stewart did the production design for both Upstairs Downstairs and The Kings Speech. She has brought this gorgeous Georgian back to life with historic paint colors that she researched at the Victoria & Albert Museum. She made sure that they were the cutting edge colors of the 1930's so that they complemented the characters in this series.  I loved the crisp green and blue and bold yellow. I also loved the moulding in the Green room which  was based on a home in London that was photographed in the 1920's and published in the then popular Country Life Magazine.
I feel that Farrow & Ball comes very close to capturing these wonderful historic colors and if I were to try to match those of 165 Eaton Place there are 3 that definitely catch my eye- Babouche 223, Folly Green 76, and Cook Blue 237 mixed with a bit of yellow.
I am only sad that Masterpiece Theater cancelled this marvelous series. I guess I will have to just hope that maybe by some miracle they bring it back. Enjoy!
