ORC GUEST WEEK 4

Wow, where is the time going!! Cannot believe it's week 4 I feel a bit behind because I have 2 big projects I am working on and I am waiting on a few things for the ORC room still!  I am making progress with mini mural and flush mount lights and window treatments are ordered and expected around the 4th, fingers crossed. I am my worst critic so of course I am not completely happy with the mural as of yet , I still need to add a bit more shading and highlights and one more pagoda. I thought about taking around the room but with the window placement and such I am treating it more s a large piece of art work on one wall. Who knows that may change towards the end! I cant wait to head over and see everyone else's too! To check all the wonderful participants go below!

Arteriors-Simple Sexy Settees!

I just got a catalogue from Arteriors Home with the newest upholstery additions.  I was so impressed at the eclectic style of this great seating selection. I am especially smitten with the new simple sexy settees!  Settees are so fabulous because they do not take up too much space and can be used just about anywhere! I love them in foyers and even breakfast nooks, or how about two flanking a fireplace almost like built in seating to the right and left against the wall! Yes, they are versatile and I think  you will agree very stylish too. Check these out!

German Smear

We are starting a project that will be a cigar lounge for someone with 6 children who needs a place to escape!  The room was added onto a blue stone patio, so part of it has the red brick from the exterior now on the interior.  We want a bit of cool New york exposed brick feel so it looks like good ole German Smear may just do the trick.  What's German Smear you ask? It's the smearing of specific mortar over the brick which is then blended on and wire brushed or sanded off a bit to give a distressed look. I found some great examples of this technique and I love it! To leave or smear brick that is the questions I say smear away!!

Chairish - Woman's Cave Challenge!

It is always fun getting a challenge from Chairish! I love all the great modern and vintage finds on their site and now they have  a  great selection awesome bar stools and pieces to create a great entertaining space.  My challenge is to create a "Woman's Cave" using bar stools, etc.  I came up with two caves! One I consider the ultimate girlie "Cool Cave" and then the "Classic Girl's Cave".
I used just about everything except wall coverings from Chairish! I also have posted some great bar stools available incase you too want to create a "Women's Cave: Of your own. Cheers ladies!

Phillip Jeffries Gives Back

I love when companies give back to the environment! Phillip Jeffries is giving back  to trees! We know we use trees to create paper so why not replace what you use! Check this out and have a great weekend!

ORC Guest Week 2

Yes, I have painted the walls and trim!  I think I got more in my hair than on the walls. I went with Benjamin Moore Horizon for walls because it matched the chinoiserie jar back round so well. I chose Super White for trim because I wanted it bright and crisp and believe me it's the truest white you'll find. Now for the fun stuff! I am not telling, you'll just have to come back next week to see!
I cant wait to check out the other participants because the ORC Wednesday group is amazing!!

It's Okay To Vent!

I spent this weekend helping my parents move into a retirement community spec home.  WEll... there is alot of tweaking to be done, because when you buy spec nothing is really custom thus many things are out of your control. That being said my biggest pet peeve is the dreaded wall vent! The ones placed in the most awkward locations, like above windows and french doorways and right when you walk in the door smack in the middle of the wall facing you! Yes, this is what my poor parents are up against in  their home. However,  I am going to give you all a little tip! This is especially for those renovating or building your home do "custom vents"! It's true you can have vents that actually look cool.  Besides vents must go somewhere, so why not make them attractive?  Check out the great vents and grilles I found on Architectural Grille and go HERE to find out more info!

Had to throw in this privacy screen !

Comes in wood too so the sky is the limit!
