Hello Relished Roost Readers! Charlotte here from Simply Love Design. Today I'm talking about what makes a great Outdoor Space. There are four elements to keep in mind when designing an outdoor space that will be sure to induce instant relaxation and provide endless enjoyment for you and your guests!

Take Cues from your Surroundings

Blend furniture materials and finishes with their natural surroundings. Coordinate tables, chairs and cushion fabric with landscaping, stone, brick, sand (if you're lucky!) and sky to create a peaceful, organic space for ultimate relaxation.

Progressive Seating
Create several areas to gather.  Have a dining table for meals with larger groups as well as smaller, more intimate areas for conversation or a cozy spot for two!

Layer lighting

As dinner with family and friends lingers into the evening, keep the party going by illuminating your space at 3 levels.
Illuminate steps and paths with lanterns on the ground.
Candlelight on tables is soft and romantic. And flattering too!
Hang chandeliers, lanterns and cafe lights in the trees. There's something magical about lighting up the night, isn't there?

Have Fun!

Create a fun spot to play chess, bocce ball or to watch a movie under the stars!

Well, I don't know about you but I am ready live outside! What a fabulous post thank you so much Charlotte. If you want more of Charlotte's great design ideas go HERE!

Wasabi And Water!

It was a fun day today gathering fabrics and shopping for furniture with my best client, "my best friend"!  She has such a big personality and great taste that this room should be fabulous! So far it seems that we have been attracted to Wasabi and Water! Pretty funny considering that after alot of Wasabi one really does require some Water!  This is the first design grouping and a few more are to come after tearing through John Rosselli's and Jerry Pair like kids in a candy shop.   We are going for fun/sophistication while still using colors found in nature. I love getting inspiration from art pieces too, they can really inspire a room's palette. What fun colors are you drawn to these days and is your style sometimes inspired by art? PS Please go to Style Mind Chic to see what is inspiring other blogger's style these days!

I LOVE this image I found on Pinterest and it will definitely influence the accent color choices and the next round of fabrics for my dear friend....

However, I am also influence by these where one can see the mix of wasabi green and watery blue in these fabulous photographs by Gray Malin  available HERE!

The definite Sofa fabric by Perennials so bring on the Red Wine!

I am feeling the above and following fabrics as well which are all Jim Thompson at Jerry Pair. I cannot wait to receive the next round of choices and I will be sure to share!

Kitchen Krush!

I really love this kitchen, it has alot of the features that my kitchen will hopefully have once revamped. The color is great, the counters are classic and it's clean yet traditional. What style kitchen speaks to you these days?

Stripe It Wide!

We decided to do a client's chairs in a constructed wide racing stripe.  The room needed a little unexpected impact and this was one way to achieve it.  I cannot wait to send them out to be done! If your space is in need of some visual impact yet you still want a clean look this may be the trick! Here are some of my favorite wide striped pieces.

Perennial Outdoor Perfection!

Do you love Perennial fabric? I do!  It is indoor/outdoor fabric with great texture and style.  They carry a multitude of colors to choose from and they also do outdoor rugs as well. I happened to receive some of the latest Gray/Cream swatches and I think my kitchen bench cushions may have found a match. I also may use  them in a client's outdoor seating area as well. If you want to check more out from Perennials go HERE!
