Modernism Week
I must admit that I am more of an eclectic with a traditional twist gal, but I love the artistic element of the present day Modernist Movement! I view these modern interiors as I would view modern art. I look at and appreciate the clean lines, simple color and use of natural light. Some modernist interiors still rely on traditional architecture that have been renovated to showcase steel enforced windows and high ceilings. Then there are some that are created from completely new construction, where the sky is the limit!I think I am drawn to those spaces that are recreated with original architecture still in place because I still see a glimpse of tradition as a back drop for a more modern aesthetic.
What is you feeling on Modernism? Do you think it's the future of interior design or like art something that can be appreciated only by the beholder? Here are a few of my favorite modernist spaces. Check out highlights from Modernism Week: Here. Enjoy!
I totally agree with you on this one. While I'm not a modern decor girl myself (like you I tend to be more trad with a twist), I do appreciate modern interiors. Of these, the first two and last two are my faves. I think when the clean lines of modernism are mixed with layers and textures and a little color, it's just right! Pinning these now!

I love the look. It's clean and the lines are simple. But it's probably way too minimalistic for me? And I also think it depends on the type of house you have. I live in a colonial which really does not fit that look... maybe if I lived in a more modern house??
ReplyDeleteI am in love with the last image and the pool area. Whatever you call it, I'm in!
ReplyDeleteI love those big modern windows and iron work too. I do agree, I really love a mix of modern with traditional too. I think the future will be a mix of modern and traditional, both look even better played off each other!
ReplyDeleteLove the blog! Kim
Thanks for stopping by I really like your blog as well!
DeleteHello Karolyn,
ReplyDeleteWhat great looking chairs and table! They look both stylish and comfortable, both of which are things that I guess most people are looking for in a chair purchase. The overall space looks really good, too!
Design For Small Apartment
Totally agree, love the Design For Small Apartment too!
DeleteHi Karolyn, I think these are beautiful examples of Modern. I can certainly appreciate it's simplicity and clean lines. But I'm a traditionalist at heart! While I can enjoy the looks modern style, I prefer a cozy and more eclectic home.
ReplyDeleteHappy Monday! XO
Hi Karolyn! Oh, modern decor is one of my fav together with contemporary. I think mixed with traditional and rustic the result is also very cool and impressive. Love the third image but all the interiors are just to die for!:) Have a great week! xo
ReplyDeleteI love how open all these spaces feel! I have to admit I am more of a traditional person but I am loving all of these modern looks you included in this post!

I love some of the lighting in these images...great look!
ReplyDeleteI do like some modern elements mixed in but I tend to gravitate to classic pieces. I love a layered mix of design elements from different periods! Loving your radiant orchid blog background too!!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on the traditional with a twist look. But modernism has its place and I love modern furniture in a home with ornate Parisian moulding and plaster work.
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful lines! I too like the traditional with a modern twist. It's fun to mix design elements;) Your blog is looking lovely! xxL
