Thom Filicia- from Queer Eye to American Beauty!

Thom Filicia has had me since Queer Eye for the Straight guy! That ground breaking reality show left me laughing, and loving the transformations produced by this fab 5’s creative process. I especially tuned in to see how Thom transformed people’s spaces each week, loving his effortless style and light hand!  

Thom is a graduate from Syracuse with a Bachelors degree in fine arts and interior design and started his career at the renowned design firms, Parish-Hadley, Inc., Robert Metzger Interiors and Bilhuber & Associates. Thom since launched his enterprise in 1998, Filicia’s New- American Style and it has earned him worldwide acclaim and notable clients in the areas of entertainment, finance, sports and media. I am especially excited to have placed an order for his newest book due to release in November 2012- “American Beauty”. This new book shows how Thom transforms his ”fixer-upper” escape from busy city life to beautiful Skaneateles Lake, New York. I cannot wait to see the house!!

Celerie Kemble and Merida Join Forces.

 I  began looking at natural woven rugs for a client yesterday and while on Merida Meridian I saw the new line of rugs.  Celerie Kemble has collaborated with Merida to produce really great rugs  that have flair and color. According to Merida, Kemble’s inspiration for this collection centered on the art of bleeding color seen in ikats, water colors and nature. Her inspiration is carried through each rug design by means of flawless color blending, organic shapes and a sense of structured unpredictability. Well, as expected Celerie produced rugs that reflect her great style. Enjoy!

Let There Be Light!!

I have been a bit busy the past few days working on various projects. One being the choice of lighting for a new apartment. I love lighting! There are so many beautiful companies out there that produce quality timeless light fixtures that it makes it hard to choose! Three of my favorites are Vaughan, Urban Electric Co., and Visual Comfort.  I also like the trendier companies such as Arteriors Home, and Worlds- Away for fun funky lighting, especially when trying to be a bit edgy without breaking the bank. It was hard to narrow down my favorite lights but I did my best! I chose ones that are semi-new to the companies and ones that I feel will always be great to have in any interior. The following nine are from Vaughan Designs, and I love how different each is, not to mention that the site has simply stunning lighting in general!

I picked these next eight great lighting fixtures from Urban Electric Co., I especially love the new Steven Gambrel designs, worth checking out!

The following eight are from Visual comfort, and I like there timeless appeal and eclectic nature.

The final lighting is from Arteriors home, just plain fun, young and a bit trendy .. however in the right setting will stand the test of time.
