Against The Grain!

I am just trying to get used to my simple blog now. They say simple is better, but I think I am learning that I am not a simple gal!  How is everyone making out with weather in your area?  We are being hit with some crazy mixed Winter storms, and I am sad to say one of my beloved trees did not make it through this last one. Our only Cedar tree that use to shade the area that once held our children's swing set and now the trampoline( which by the way is so out of here this year), has fallen!  I thought of how we can take trees for granted, and how many of them are cut down or lost to storms and even fire in certain areas of the country.  It makes me happy that there are so many beautiful options out there now as wood alternatives.  I especially love the vinyl wall coverings and porcelain tile that give you that grain look with out sacrificing a little ole tree.  Don't worry I am not jumping on the tree hugger bandwagon, but I do understand where they are coming from and thought I would share some of my favorite "against the grain" alternatives today! So, do you like the faux bois alternatives? If so do you have any in your home, let me know!

Poor Cedar!

So sorry about your tree, that's a shame. Some of the trees near our home seem like old friends, I'd be sorry to see any of them go.

Stay warm and think sunny thoughts! XOXO
