Beauty Of Negative Space- Mendelson Group!

I have attended and volunteered at many show houses this year.  I have fallen in love with so many rooms and designers and have tried to see what has drawn me to each space.  I have my favorites such as Alexa Hampton, Cullman & Kravis, Young Huh, etc. There were a few designers that I also absolutely love for their achievement of filling a space yet still allowing negative space!  Does that make sense? It's one thing to fill a rom from top to bottom with the most beautiful pieces. This can be done and the masters do it so well. However, to fill a space and still maintain a feel of open serenity is an art that I long to achieve! We know that Darryl Carter has this talent hands down, but I also found another design group that does a gorgeous job of this as well and that is Mendelson.  The Mendelson Group adds color, texture, accessories and yet seems to maintain an open feel. I loved their space at Kips Bay and how they achieved that open expansive feel in a smaller room. I noticed that ceiling height helped of course, yet the scale and proportion of upholstered and case goods, and how they were placed in the space seemed to achieve that negative space.
Here is a little bit about The Mendelson Group-"Mendelson Group was incorporated in 2003 by its principal, Gideon Mendelson. A graduate of both Columbia University with a degree in Architecture and The New York School of Interior Design, Gideon brings a classically based, yet fresh and modern aesthetic to his projects. Focusing efforts on interior architecture and decoration, Mendelson Group’s goal is to create functional, comfortable spaces that are not only aesthetically pleasing, but also timeless in design, youthful and energetic."Credits-Here!

This room was amazing at Kips Bay! DO you notice the open feel even with wonderful use of color and texture, that's an art form!
