If you have been following me for a while you know that I was a decorative painter prior to decorating. I would say that the 90's and early 2000's seemed to be the height of faux finishing and mural art. I still think that there are techniques that are still widely used today and will always remain classic. They are the use of plaster for wall finish and historic mural reproductions. I still love and will always love a great venetian and lime plaster wall. Although one can achieve this look through DIY, I still strongly suggest that large spaces be left to the pros if you wish for the finish to look flawless and timeless. However, if you do want to attempt it I have posted this video from YouTube along with some stunning inspirational images! Remember plastered can be a good thing.
Beautiful. When we were in Venice I walked by a palazzo w/the door propped open and I could see two mean applying a plaster finish. It was gorgeous, of course.
So pretty, a textured wall can add SO much to a room.. I knew you had to be an artist ever since I saw that AMAZING pumpkin you did. I still cannot get over it. You have to make me one this fall....I am still in love with it:)
Karolyn, have you ever shared your decorative painting work on the blog? I would love to see it! I love the look of a Venetian plastered wall in the right setting. Hope you are having a fantastic week! xoxo

DeleteOh I didn't know that! I completely agree on leaving it to the pro's. Some things are more than worth paying for.
