Feeling A Bit Rusty!

It all started with Monday's post by Powell Brower At Home! They posted the most gorgeous rusty velvet settee for a Fall inspired interior and i knew instantly that I had found my fabric. My two poor living room chairs are in bad shape. It's so sad since they are covered in a Suzanne Rheinstein fabric for Lee Jofa that is now full of cat claw marks.  I have been putting off upholstering them because nothing has really struck me until now. I think a rich velvet may be more forgiving than a linen where the cat is concerned and I love the sophisticated feel that a rusty color may bring to the space.  Now I just have to find the right tone and texture, let the hunt begin! Here are few more inspirational rust pieces that I love. Enjoy and pin away!

  1. Wish I could find that first colour. But there's a gorgeous silk velvet called Hazelnut at Fabricguru, that's a close second. And yes, velvet is more forgiving than linen with cats.

  6. Have had rust in some form or other for over thirty years, never goes out of style. Right now I have rust colored mohair on a 1930's Deco couch, wonderful except for my white dogs depositing their hair!

  7. All your images are spot on and I love how a little rust gives patina to a room or object.
