Searching For Swoon Worthy!

Don't get me wrong, I am a fan of today's move towards minimal chic. You know the look, "rooms with white walls and fun colorful accessories with abstract art." However,  I miss being bowled over!  Doing design is tricky these days because frankly everyone has a hand in it somehow or someway due to the power of social media. Pinterest and other sites provide everyone with dream rooms that they can try to recreate or at least use as inspiration.  I want a room that takes more than a shopping spree to recreate and I would love to design one for a client someday.  Alas, the days of "Carte Blanche" decorating I fear are over, but one can dream!!
Here are some of my favorite "Swoon Worthy" rooms done by the design masters.

This room will always be Swoon Worthy to me!

  1. Amen! I am older and was never a blue-eyed blond who lived on the coast which seems to be the majority of many people around the world who love—and who look good in—the pale rooms. I came to love interior design from literature and theater and have a big oppositional streak in me and being a child of the 60s a serious remaining love for color, pattern. I hope you find clients who have bigger aspirations than to be just like everyone else. As my son said in kindergarten when he chose to color his "state animal" which in Kansas in a buffalo, orange instead of the "required" brown, "if you have to do it like everyone else, why even do it?" Wisdom at five.

  5. Ahhhh....there is something to say about OPULENCE and this is it: I LOVE IT!

Yes, these days even for me, it's been about decluttering. For many reasons, but one of them quite frankly is that I'm getting TOO OLD to haul things around and clean! It's been easier and even more peaceful to have less but BEAUTIFUL vintage or antiques carefully placed. But there is nothing like a museum effect to tingle the senses! Beautiful!
