I spent 2 and 1/2 days in New York this weekend as my mother underwent spinal surgery at The Hospital for Special Surgery. Unfortunately she was not released for a few days due to some minor set backs, but I am glad to report is home now and recovering. During the days I was fortunate enough to be able to stay at the apartment of my sister's wonderful mother in law and the original Interior designer who started our firm Town & Country. It was here that I perused her bookshelves for inspiration for I could no longer watch the news as it seemed that the world was falling apart! So much heartache occurred since Friday that I needed something to distract me.  I found just the book, "Happy Times", Lee Radziwill! I have always admired Lee's style, grace and ability to overcome tragedy ...and we all know she had her share!
I thought Lee Radziwill said it best in the introduction and I thought I would share this with you in hopes that we can all look back on Happier Times!
Over a number of years, friends have urged me to write an autobiography. I had the opportunity, but after some thought I decided it would involve me in too many other lives.
I wanted to do something much lighter, which would touch only on the good times. I also felt that so much had already been said about my family and the people I was close to, that is would be more enjoyable to only remember the best times with them.
Happy times were a better choice for me. I am always aware that I’ve had a special and privileged life, yet it has been balanced by tragedy as it has been for so many others.
I believe that without memories there is no life, and that our memories should be of happy times.
That’s my Choice.-Lee Radziwill
