Poirot - Interiors Of Great Taste!

I was loving the return of Poirot to PBS these past few weeks! I forgot how much I enjoyed this show, its wonderful characters, gorgeous scenery and interesting interiors! For those of you who are not familiar with Poirot he is a detective in the famous Agatha Christie series that aired for several years and finally came to a close this last November! Set in England from the 20's to the 70's , we get to see the changes that occurred in fashion, , interiors, automobiles and life in general as we followed Poirot through the many years of his service. I loved his style not to mention his two apartments were spotless, organized and had touches of Art Deco that were wonderful!
Here is a description of Poirot that should give you an idea of what his taste in interiors might have been!

The famous sleuth loves the finer things of life and luxury, including exotic drinks (he loves sirop de cassis), exotic locales, excellent served food, the theatre and other arts, and very comfortable hotel rooms. He loves the indoors and avoids extreme weather whenever possible. Poirot loathes dirt and disarray, and favors order, method, and symmetry (Whitehaven Mansions is symmetrical, his eggs for breakfast always need to be the same size, and even the books on his bookshelf are arranged by height!).
 This is according to- http://www.poirot.us!
We can thank Jeff Tessler for the fabulous set design on the show, he gave the apartments true Poirot Personality!

Lets take a look at some of the pieces I found that I think good old Poirot himself would have considered buying for his own apartment!

If you really want to learn and see everything about Poirot then visit Poirot Chronology,
the interior shots are credit to that blog and he also has quite great opinions on the style during the time of Poirot!

All these fabulous finds are courtesy of 1st Dibs!  Search 1920's or Artdeco and you will find a trove of gorgeous pieces.  You can also search Ebay and Etsy as well they always have fun finds too!

  1. Oh don't you just love this era of design and literature! Hello there my dear Karolyn! How is your relished roost doing today? Well, if you are watching PBS and enjoying Poirot, then I suspect you are having fun. We've been watching our DVDs on Downton Abby and having tea and loving every night of it.

Thank you for reading my post; it is interesting how many of us have the same doubts when it comes to exposing our arts in public. But it all comes down to knowing why we started in the first place. If it's a love for a particular thing (home, décor, crafts, art, cooking, family), then we must continue. I suspect that without doubts, we would not grow.

I wish you continued success and happiness as you discover more of what makes The Relished Roost your passion. You certainly light up my world! Smile on! Anita
