Sunday Inspiration - Sheila Bridges!

What can I say, Sheila has been and will always be one of my all time favorite designers. Before I became a decorator I watched Ms Bridges on HGTV faithfully, and I became enamored with Morocco by watching her special on that country. I also recall a few years back as I was rifling through the hanging fabric at Lee Jofa  someone suddenly caught my eye. I would be lying if I didn't say it was because I suddenly noticed a gorgeous women with no hair! Yes, I  said it! I did a double take and then realized I was staring at one of my Interior Design Icons, Ms. Sheila Bridges.  Suddenly, I was awkwardly star struck and this time not because she had no hair but because she radiated an energy and a style that was just beautiful! I admit it, I wanted to follow her and see what extraordinary things she might be pulling for a client, but I didn't.  I wish I had the the guts at the time to tell her how much she influenced my decision to give up an Intensive Care Nursing career and follow my true passion for Art and Design... but I didn't.  Instead I went on with my work and she with hers and I wondered if there would be another TV show and when would I see more of her fabulous work published for all to admire.
Now, just a few years later she had something even better in store for us! "The Bald Mermaid". I am just about to read this book which according to the New York Times has much more than just her life in design. Sheila bares her soul "if you will", and I for one cannot wait to get to know this remarkable lady. Even if it's only through a book!

Here are some of my favorite rooms designed in a classic yet eye catching way that only Sheila could achieve. Enjoy and  remember its Martin Luther King's Day tomorrow, try to remember all the amazing African Americans who have made a difference in America and in our lives, I know Sheila influenced mine, and I thank her!

I enjoyed m'y visit and so inspiréd. I am not so much a super big fan of animal art, but those framed pieces in black ink of the dogs charm me dearly, so much so I am encouraging my daughter to do one of our little Pia, will see what we come up with.
